The Funeral Service of Laura Houston who died on July 13, 1985 was held from Chapel, Sashatoon Funeral Home on Thursday, July 25, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. Conducted by Rev. Carlton Miller, Cremation. Honorary Bearers were Hazeel Helem, Agnes Mottram, Evan Simpson, Art Waddington, Clayton Ferguson, Del Richards, John Nakonechny, and Eric Young. Interment Family Plot Ruthilda Cemetery.

HOUSTON The death of Laura Houston (nee Halpenny) age 95 years of 1400 Avenue K. South, Saskatoon occurred at her residence on July 13, 1985. The Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, July 25 at 10 30 a m from the Chapel of the Saskatoon Funeral Home conducted by Rev Carlton Miller. Memorial donations to a charity of the donors choice apprecited in lieu of flowers. Surviving are two sons Clarke, Vernon, B C. and Bruce, Edmonton, Alberta; granddaughter Carole, Lethbridge, Alberta, and greatgrandchildren, Greg, Calgary, Alberta, Laurie, Vancouver, B C. and Bonnie, Edmonton, Alberta She was predeceased by her husband Ross in 1937 and two sons, Gordon in 1979 and Earle In 1980. Mrs Houston was born April 1, 1890 and was raised In the Minnedosa area in Manitoba. Her early working years were spent in a millinery shop In Minnedosa She married Ross Houston in 1913 and moved to Saskatchewan to settle on a homestead In the Plenty Ruthll-da district. Mrs. Houston was very active In Church and Sunday School activities In the Rose School and Ruthilda areas. She moved to New Westminster, B C. in 1942 and in 1956 returned to Saskatoon where she made her home unil her death Mrs. Houston had been a meber of Second Street United Church and was a life member of Saskatoon Chapter No. 4 Order of the Eastern Star. Interment of ere-mams will take place in the family plot in Ruthilda Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Saskatoon Funeral Home.
