    Robert was born Nov.3, 1840 in Dalhousie Township, Lanark County, Ontario, the son of James Duncan and Jane Purdon. On Nov.1, 1867, he was married at Dalhousie, to Janet Reid, daughter of James Reid and Mary Easton. Robert died at McDonald's Corners on Jan.10,1904 from heart failure.

    At McDonald's Corners, Sunday, January 10th, Mr. Robert Duncan, aged 63 years and 2 mos. Born at Dalhousie Lake, 3rd Nov. 1840, he married Miss Janet Reid thirty-six years ago. He leaves the following family; Mrs. Wm. A. Purdon, and James B. Duncan, Powasson, Ontario; Mrs. R.E. Parsons, Carleton Place; Harry Duncan, Patterson, North Dakota; Mrs. D. Ferguson, Snow Road; Maggie, Alex and Frank, at home.
