PAISLEY ADVOCATE dtd Sep. 12, 1889

Died at Harriston on the 6th instant Penelope Hood, eldest daughter of Mr. John [should read James] Hood of Brant, near Paisley and wife of Mr. Jacob Halliday of Harriston in [the] 27th year of her age. Mrs. Halliday was a young woman of exemplary character and highly respected for her many excellent qualities. The esteem in which she was held by all her acquaintances was manifested by the large concource of people that attended her funeral service viz. Rev. Messrs. Camerons, Harriston; Young, Clifford; and Gillies of Paisley. She walked with God and her end was peace. Her remains were laid to rest in the beautiful cemetery of Harriston, there to repose until the day breaks and the shadows flee away. The morning of the resurrection will see her redeemed from death resurrected from the grave, her mouldered remains gathered from their sleeping dusk clothed in robes of immortal life. Her bereaved husband and the family to which she belonged have the sympathy of the community. "Blessed are the dead which in the Lord from henceforth yea saith the spirit that they may rest from their labours and their work do follow them."

Public records list the baby of Penalope and Jacob Halliday as a still born male, born September 05, 1889.
