Elizabeth Hood was born Feb. 1/16, 1801 Bridgeton, Barony Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. She was the daughter of James Hood who is buried at Creemore Cemetery, Simcoe County, Onatio, and his first wife Elizabeth Jones/Jonnes. Elizabeth's brother, William Hood (#61915530), is buried at St. Andrews Cemetery in Lanark County, Ontario. Elizabeth was first married to a Mr. Graham. She may have had a daughter named Elizabeth with her first husband. Her second husband was William Allan. When Elizabeth first emigrated to Canada from Scotland, she lived in Dalhousie Twp., Lanark County, Canada. Because of the rocky soil in Dalhousie Twp., she was part of the settlers (known as The Dalhousie Settlers) who relocated in about 1832 to Simcoe County, Ontario where the soil was better for farming. Elizabeth died on Aug. 8, 1875.
