Duncan Ferguson: Born, where he died in the old family homestead at Elphin, August 21, 1849. His wife, Deborah Love, died in May 1893. Heleaves one sister, Mrs. Peter McIntyre, of Elphin, and one brother, Alexander Ferguson. Three Sisters and one brother predeceased him; Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Nisbet, of Mallory, Minnesota; Mrs. E. Geddes, of Snow Road; and Peter Ferguson, of North Sherbrooke. Burial in Crawford's Cemetery.

Ferguson - At Elphin on New Years Day one of North Sherbrooke's well known and highly esteemed residents died in the person of Duncan Ferguson. He didee at the old family residence where he was born on aug. 21st, 1849, and spent all his life. He has been ailing about a year with heart trouble. His wife, who was Deborah Love, died in May 1893, and after her death his sister, Mrs Peter McIntyre, lived with him. He leaves to mourn his loss one brother, Aleander Ferguson, and one sister, Mrs McIntyre. Three sisters and one brother predeceased him - Mrs Lee andMrs Nisbet of Mallory, Minn; Mrs E Geddes of Snow Road and Peter Ferguson of North Sherbrooke. In religion he was a Presbyterian and in politics a Reformer. The funeral on Wednesday, Jan 3rd, ws largely attended. A beautiful three-link wreath was placed on the csket by the members of Cornucopia Lodge, No. 299, IOOF of which the deceased was a member. The services at the home residence was conducted by the Odd Fellows and at Elphin church by the Rev. A. J. McMullen. The remains were laid to rest in Crawford cemetery beside those of his wife. Deceased was a reaader of the Courier from his boyhood days andhis home was always a place where friends or stranged found a welcome. Six grandsons are overseas with teh Canadian Forces.
