- Obituary
McNicol - Mrs. John McNicol, an old and lifelong resident of Dalhousie Township passed quietly away at her home near Watson's Corners on Monday, January 9th, aged seventy-five years and seven months. The deceased, whose maiden name was Mary Nairn, daughter of the late Archibald Nairn, was born on the second line of Dalhousie, on the farm now occupied by Mr. Andrew Fair. She was married in 1867 to Mr. John McNicol, and they settled and lived together on the farm, 1st line of Dalhousie, for the past fifty-five years. A family of six boys and three girls were born to them, and with the exception of one daughter Grace, who is deceased, are left to mourn with their father. The family living are" Nellie (Mrs. William Craig), of Hopetown; Minnie (Mrs Alf. Stanley), of Almonte; Arch, of Drummond, John and William of Dalhousie, Colin in Perth, Arthur of Roche Plains, Sask. and Howard in Smiths Falls. Deceased is also survived by one sister, Mrs John Mather of Middleville.
The late Mrs. McNichol always enjoyed good health, her last illness was of a short duration of only eight weeks with anaemia. Of an amiable disposition she was beloved by a large circle of friends who join with the husband and family in their bereavement. The funeral was held on Wednesday from her late home to the Watson's Corners Cemetery, Rev. J.T. Caswell conducting the services. The pallbearers were Messrs. Robert Nairn, Willie Gibson, Alex. Erskine, W.M. Gibson, Bert Scott and John Mather.
