Family and friends were shocked and saddened by the sudden passing of Agnes Jane McDougall on friday, November 6, 1970 at Kemptville District Hospital. Although she was in failing health for several years, her cheery, friendly manner and quiet personality, along with her faith and courage, made her a joy to be with. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Daughter of the late Alex Ferguson and his wife, Agnes Geddes, she was born on February 11, 1883 in the township of North Sherbrooke.
On December 6, 1911, at Lanark, she was united in marriage to John McDougall, Prior to the purchase of their farm on the 8th line of Bathurst, they lived for a number of years at Elphin,
Left to mourn her loss are three daughters, Florence (Mrs. Craig Greer), Maberly; Blanche (Mrs Charles Foster), Bathurst; Margaret (Mrs Russell Banville), Merrickville, and one son, Stanley, Oxford Mills. Also surviving is one sister, Katie (Mrs. John Sargeant), Bathurst; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was predeceased by two daughters, three sisters and one brother.
The funeral service was conducted by Mr. Jensen of Oxford Mills from the Morrow Funeral Home, Perth, on Monday, Nov. 9, 1970. Interment was in Crawford's Cemetery, Elphin.
The pallbearers were Kenneth Blair, James Rutherford, Harold Trueloove, Ernest Rogers, Lloyd McVeigh and William Charles.
The beautiful floral tributes and donations to the Canadian Bible Society and The Ontario Heart Foundation showed the esteem in which Mrs McDougall was held.
