Obituary - Perth Courier - Dec.7,1928 -
Gilmour - On Thursday evening, Nov. 8th, Mr. William Gilmour passed away at the Great War Memorial Hospital, Perth at the age of 72 years. He was the third son of the late James Gilmour and Jessie Crawford. He was married to Mary McDonald of Palmerston, and he was highly esteemed and respected by all who knew him as was shown by the very large funeral. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and one son, James of Harper, and three daughters, Mrs. Alex. McIntyre, Elphin; Mrs. John S. Nisbett, Lorenzo, Sask., and Mrs. Stanley Purdon, McDonald's Corners, and two brothers and one sister, John, of Denbigh; Edward of Rednersville, Ont., and Mrs. Alex. Duncan, Elphin. The funeral service was conducted by the Rev. Kenneth McCaskill, of McDonald's Corners and the Rev. Mr. Walsh of Maberly. The pallbearers were Messrs. Walter Geddes, Andrew Paul, Dan Geddes, Alex. McDougall, D. J. Nisbet and Howard McDougald. The floral offerings were a beautiful wreath from the family and a spray from the Elphin branch of the Women's Institute. The bereaved wife and family have the sympathy of the whole community.
