  	Ray Emerson Heald was born May 18, 1924, in Wells, the sixth son of Clark and Zella (Lewis) Heald. He died August 10, 2010. Ray attended school in Wells and graduated from Minneapolis High School in 1944. He served with a medical detachment in the 38th Division in the Philippines during World War II . After his military service, he graduated from Brown-Mackie Business School and started working at School Specialty Supply in Salina whe he was a purchasing agent and secretary. He retired as Vice President of the company in 1986 after 39 years. Ray was active in the First Christian Church, serving on the board and as a trustee. He was a Past President of Salina Noon Optimist Club and a member of the Salina Chamber of Commerce. He was an active member of the Elks Club, Flywheels, Smoky Valley Genealogical Society, VFW Post 1432 and American Legion Post. He was preceded in death by a son, John Michael "Mike" Heald; and a granddaughter, Micala Jean Jones. Survivors included his wife, Carolyn Fenton Heald; a son, Ron Heald; a daughter, Kathi Jones; four grandsons, Aric Delaney, Jamie Delaney, Shaun Heald and Nicholas Heald.
