He was born Nov. 28, 1908 at Wells, the son of Clark G. Heald and Zella Lewis Heald. He grew up at Wells and received his education there. He moved to Union, Oregon in 1939. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army in the Pacific theater. He later lived in Baker, Oregon, and served as an accountant for Baker County.
