  	Farmer Killed Near His Home A Bathurst farmer, Thomas R. Hossie, 79, died on Thursday afternoon, after the car which he was driving was struck by a CPR freight train about 2:15, at a level crossing on his farm property on the 3rd line of Bathurst. His autao, a 1956 model , was struck by a west-bound freight, and the impact hurled this vehicle about 30 feet into a ditch. Visability was good in both directions. Mr. Hossie was proceeding down a lane to his farm. Dr David Craig was summoned to the scene andMr Hossie was rremoved to the GWM Hospital by Blair and Son ambulance, where he passed away two hours later. The train crew were engineer George White and conductor Rod McGillis, both of Smiths Falls. The accident, the first train-car fatality in the district in several years, was investigated by Cpl. John Hillmer and Constable Martin Brindle of the Provincial Police Detachment at Perth. The Perth Courier May 3, 1962, p.1
