- "Iver erected a house on his place and they all moved into it. This, however, was a mistake as the homestead laws then were that a son could live with his parents, but a father could not live with his son. This made it necessary to also build on Erick's homestead. It also became necwssary to spend some time at each place. So spring and fall became moving days for the next three years.

- To get to Great Falls, the family took a sleigh to Killaly, stayed overnight before taking a train east to Kirkella, Manitoba. At Kirkella they caught another train west to Regina. Eddy was 6 years, Gilbert was 4 years, Henry was 6 weeks old.
