  	Son of Marion Crosby of Brazil Lake, Nova Scotia. Frank Iriam was one of the very first to enlist for service in World War One. He mobilized with the 98th Regiment at Kenora, Ontario on August 04, 1914, the day war was declared, assigned regimental number 57. He went overseas with the 8th (Winnipeg Rifles) Battalion, A Company, Scout Section. He served in France and Flanders until wounded at Amiens on August 09, 1918. In the 1920's and 30's, Frank wrote a manuscript describing his experiences as a scout during the war. Although written from memory, his details match well with both his own service records and various official histories. He forbade publication until well after his death. In 2008, his son finally published it as "In The Trenches, 1914-1918". It is one of the best personal memoirs of the Great War.
