  	Funeral for Henry Stuart Smith, 59, of 3425 N. Atlantic avenue, will be Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Little Chapel of the Chimes. Commitment at Riverview cemetery will be private. Mr. Smith died Friday. He lived in Portland for 34 years and had been self-employed as a candy and tobacco jobber since 1922. He was born in LaCrosse, Wis., June 25, 1897. In 1941 he bought out the J. R. Smith company and operated under the name of H. S. Smith company until the fall of 1949. Then he and his son opened a warehouse in Beaverton called H. S. Smith & Son. He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian church, Roosevelt lodge No. 187, AF&AM; Portland chapter No. 97 of the Eastern Star, and Royal Arch Masons. Surviving are the widow, Phyllis M. Smith; four children, E. William Smith, Mrs. Jean Hansen and Mrs. Janet M. Gebhardt, Portland, and Marion Rapacz, San Mateo, Cal.; a brother, William L. Smith, Akron, O.; a sister, Mrs. Helen Deilke, Lubbock, Tex.; his mother, Mrs. Lucy Smith, La Crosse, Wis., and five grandchildren. [The Oregonian, 6 Nov 1956, p13]
