- Nellie Fredenburg was born July 4, 1880 at Alexandria, Minnesota, the daughter of Joseph and Sarah Walker Gilpin. Nellie spent most of her early life in Alexandria. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Alexandria. On August 14, 1901 she was united in marriage to Walter B. Fredenburg at Osseo, Wisconsin. The Walter Fredenburg family resided for a time in Barnesville, Minnesota, Whapeton, North Dakota and about 1909 moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota where they remained for many years. Mr. Fredenburg preceded her in death April 17, 1941. Nellie spent most of her time in Minneapolis. In the fall of 1954 she moved to Jackson, Wyoming where she made her home with her daughter, where she lived for eight years, when she moved to the Pioneer Home at Thermopolis, Wyoming. In December of 1965 she fell and broke her hip, as a result of this accident she was in and out of the hospital for several months. When it became evident she would always be a bed patient she was moved to the Sanatorium at Basin, Wyoming, where she passed away March 22, 1971 at the age of 90 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Dr. Gladys Fredenburg Naegeli of Belknap, Montana; one grandson, Donald G. Naegeli of Belknap and four great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Bessie and Mary Theresa and one brother, William Gilpin.
Funeral services were held at Anderson Funeral Home, Alexandria, Minnesota with Rev. James Winters officiating.
