- Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Teeson were held on Thursday, Dec. 14, 1961 from the First Congregational church with Rev. Paul Dahlstrom officiating. Interment was in the Kinkead cemetery. The casket bearers were Dr. H. J. Larson, F. M. Unumb, H. James Boyd, Douglas Oppel, Clifford Peterson, Sr., and Robert Carlisle. Honorary pallbearers were Orie D. Olson, H. B. Wussaw, C. Fred Hanson, Hugh B. Robards, Oscar G. Englund, and James O'Brien.
Emma Teeson was born in Alexandria on Feb. 19, 1873, the daughter of Douglas County pioneer parents, Robert and Christine McLachlan Walker. She grew to womanhood in Alexandria where she graduated from Alexandria high school in 1891, being salutatorian of her class. She graduated from St. Cloud teachers college, then taught in Douglas county schools, and also in Drayton, N.D. She was confirmed in the Congregational church, and later served as Sunday school teacher and organist. She was united in marriage to Walter L. Teeson on June 20, 1900 and for a time resided in Montreal, Canada where her husband was a banker in the Bank of Canada, and later returned to Alexandria. Since 1934 Emma Teeson lived with her son, George, at Alexandria until suffering a stroke in May 1961, and was hospitalized since that date. During her lifetime she was active in church work and community affairs and was one of the charter members of the Alexandria Woman's Club.
Mrs. Emma Teeson passed away December 11, 1961 at Our Lady of Mercy hospital at the age of 88 years, 9 months and 22 days. Surviving is one son George of Alexandria and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, one daughter, one sister, two brothers and a grandson.
