- Henry Patrick Wallace was the son of Henry Wallace and Mary Flood.
On March 20, 1945 in New York City, New York, Henry enlisted in the United States Army. Henry married Barbara Helene Wagner on May 30, 1950 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A Memorial Service for Henry Patrick Wallace, 85, will be held 2:00 p.m., Thursday, November 1, 2012 at Caney United Methodist Church in Caney, Kansas.
Henry Wallace, of Bartlesville, died Wednesday, October 24, 2012 at his home.He was born January 4, 1927 in New York City to Henry and Mary (Flood) Wallace.
Henry was a veteran, serving in the U.S. Army as a part of the occupation forces in Japan.After being discharged from the Army, he attended the University of Tulsa where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He also met Barbara Wagner, of Bartlesville and they married in May, 1950 and loved each other for 62 years.Henry worked his entire career for Phillips Petroleum, including stops in Borger and Cactus Texas before moving to Bartlesville in 1958. He retired in 1985.
Henry spoiled his four children with his time and energy and enthusiasm.He was a volunteer as a Boy Scoutmaster, a gymnastics coach with the Phillips 66 and the YMCA programs, Little League baseball, wrestling and Green Country Soccer as a referee. He enjoyed teaching Sunday School at church. He cooked for Meals on Wheels, was a driver for Eldercare and was one of the best listeners at concerts from beginning violinists in Suzuki Strings to the Bartlesville Symphony. He took his kids swimming and taught them the value of learning how to use the public library.Henry loved the outdoors and enjoyed canoeing and camping. He counted the night that a black bear invaded his campsite in the New Mexico mountains and ransacked the Coleman ice chest as the family watched from inside the tent as "a great outdoors adventure."In his spare time, Henry learned gourmet cooking and enjoyed long distance bicycling. He cooked dozens of cookies and hundreds of pizzas. He participated in Free Wheel nine times, crossing his adopted state of Oklahoma by bicycle.
Preceding him in death were his parents, two sisters and an infant son, Dan Patrick.Survivors include: his wife, Barbara, of Bartlesville; Two daughters: Tracy Saenz and husband Esteban, of Eudora, Ks.; Leslie Wallace and husband Dan Trembly, of Lafayette, Co.; Two sons: Bruce Wallace and wife Susan of Columbia, Mo.; Paul Wallace and wife Felicia, of Caney, Ks.; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Caney United Methodist Church, the Bartlesville Symphony Orchestra, and the Washington County SPCA.
