Mr Peter McDougall
Mr Peter McDougall, highly esteemed resident of Blakeney, died at his home, 10th concession of Ramsay, on Saturday evening, Oct 28. Although Mr McDougall had been in poor health for some time, his sudden passing came as a severe blow to the many members of the family, and as a shock to his many friends in the community. Deceased was born on the family homestead in the vicinity of Hopetown, the son of the late Mr Charles McDougall. He was in his 63rd year. Surviving are one brother Charles of Almonte, and two sisters, Mrs Jas Bowes of Watson's Corners and Mrs Hugh McMullen of Arnprior. On June 27th, 1906, Mr McDougall married Essie Sarah McKay, daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Wm McKay of Hall's Mills. Besides Mrs McDougall to mourn the parting of one who devoted his whole time and energy to making home life happy and congenial, he leaves two sons and nine daughters: Annie (Mrs T. Pierce) of Pakenham; Blanche of Perth; Lena and Clifford at home; Myrtle (Mrs F Mitchell) of Dewitt's Corners; Helen at Home; Audrey of Perth, and Muriel, Mabel, Doreen and Willard at home. The funeral was held from his late residence on Monday afternoon, services on Monday afternoon, services being conducted by Rev F.E. Rice of Blakeney. Interment was made at Auld Kirk Cemetery. The funeral was attended by scores of friends from the community and from outside points. The pallbearers were Robert McPhail, Andrew McPhail, Oswald Bingham, James Bingham, Geo Arthur and Reuben Giles. Among those from a distance were Miss Meda Robertson and Mr Duncan Schoular of Ottawa; Mr and Mrs Daniel McKay, Mr Geo McKay, Mabel McKay, Major Carter, John McKay, Mrs Harry Cameron and Mr and Mrs Hugh McMullen, all of Arnprior; Mr and Mrs R.J. Duffy, Mrs Roy Cavanagh and Mr F. Mitchell of Perth; Mr and Mrs Alex McKay and Arthur McKay of Middleville; Mrs Harry Pretty and son Lyle and Mr Ervin Gunn of Hopetown; Mr Herbert Anderson of Chaput-Hughes; Mr and Mrs Wm Schoular of Smiths Falls; Mr and Mrs Robert McDougall and sons of Brockville; Mr Ernest Bowes of Watson's Corners; and Mrs Duncan Hamilton, Mr and Mrs O.H. Dezell and Mrs Harwood McCreary, all of Carleton Place, and Mr and Mrs John McDougall of Balderson. The floral offerings were many and beautiful and included pieces from the staff of Lanark County Home; School Board and teacher of S.S. 15, Ramsay; Blakeney United Church and Y.P.U.
