- Mrs. Benjamin Avery
On Thursday afternoon, Jan 8th, 1969 there passed away at Lanark Lodge, Perth, Ont., Katie McNaughton, beloved wife of the late Benjamin Avery, in her 83rd year.
Born at Rideau Ferry, Ont., on the 8th of July, 1886, she was the daugher of the late Malcolm McNaughton and Sarah McKaye.
She then moved with her family to a farm north of Maberly in the Township of South Sherbrook in 1896.
She was united in marriage on June 30th, 1920 to Benjamin Avery. The early years of their marriage were spent on a farm near McDonald's Corners. They later sold their farm and bought a property at Harper, Ont., where they resided until the time of Ben's death on July 3rd, 1957. Katie then moved to Perth and later went to stay with her brother and a sister, who lived north of Maberly. Later, due to ill health and her sister's death, she entered Lanark Lodge.
She leaves to mourn her loss two brothers, David, Maberly and Milford, Wilton, ONtl, and one sister, Mrs William Avery (Bella), Glen Tay, Ont. Two sisters, (Mertina) Mrs. William C. Greer and Margaret and four brothers, Daniel, Robert, Hubert and Aulby predeceased her.
Funeral services conducted by Pastor Rev. W.A. Bowler, Pentecostal Tabernaacle, Perth, were held from Morrow's Funeral Home, on January 11th, 1969 with interment at the Higland Line cemetery.
The pallbearers, relatives of the deceased, were Mr. Raymond Ruttan, Mr. Robert Sargeant, Mr. William Ridell, Mr. Malcolm McNaughton, Mr Gerald Patterson and Mr George Avery.
Many beautiful floral tributes received from friends, neighbours and relatives showed the esteem in which deceased was held.
