- Isabella Avery
The community was saddened by the passing of Isabella Avery on September 15, 1970 at the Great War Memorial Hospital. Although she had not enjoyed good health for some years she was always cheerful and loved to have her friends call on her. She was only in the hospital a few days prior to her death.
She was born at Lombardy on February 24, 1890 and moved to the Maberly district as a child. She was the daughter of the late Malcolm McNaughton and Sarah McKay. In 1919 she was united in marriage with William Avery and they resided on the 7th line of Bathurst until 1947, when they moved to the Glen Tay area.
Isabella Avery is survived by her husband, two brothers, David of Maberly, Milford of Wilton, and was predeceased by three sisters, Martena (Mrs William Greer); Margaret and Katie (Mrs Benjamin Avery), and four brothers, Daniel, Robert, Hubert and Aulby.
The funeral was held on Friday, September 18, from the Morrow Funeral Home, conducted by Rev. G. Richardson with interment at the Highland Line Cemetery. The pallbearers were six nephews, John Riddell, Harold Gray, Raymont Rutton, Gordon, William and Malcolm McNaughton.
The many lovely flora tributes and docations to organizations showed the esteem in which Isabella Avery was held.
