  	Hazel Barber Hazel was born in Restoule, the second of two children of Isabelle (Griffith) and William James Clarke. she would have met Donald Barber during one of the community activities such as grain thrashing, dinners or dances. They were married on November 12, 1924 at St. Alban's Anglican Church in Restoule. The next day she was expected tocook breakfast for the Nipissing Hotel guests. They ran the hotel for several years, before moving first to Lost Channel in Port Loring and finally settling in Hotham to run a saw mill. Hazel would cook for up to 20 members of the sawmill gang every work day of the summer and 5 or 6 of the logging crew in the winter. At the same time she was feeding her own family and would often serve dinner for up to 50 visiting relatives every Sunday. In the meantime she was milking the cows every day and picking 100's of quarts of berries in the summer which she cooked and canned. Awarded a Life Membership award by the Anglican Church Women of Restoule in 1996, Hazel always knit for church bazaars and cooked and baked for church dinners. Everyone in the family agreed that no-one could make cookies like Grandma Hazel. Hazel played the organ accompanied by Don on the violin for family hymn sings. They were married over 70 years when Don died on January 12, 1996. Hazel lived the last year of her life in Eastholme where she regularly visited with family and friends.
