Late of Weyburn, Saskatchewan, passed away December 21, 2018 at the age of 75 years.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with Reverend Jay Song officiating. Funeral Lunch and Fellowship to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 47, Weyburn, Saskatchewan. Interment will take place at a later date in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weyburn, Saskatchewan.

everend John Charles Ferrier 1943 ~ 2018 Ferrier, John Charles passed away on December 21, 2018 at the age of 75 years. John was predeceased by his father Byron in 1975 and his mother Kathleen in 1983. John was born June 12th, 1943. He was a native of Preston (now Cambridge) Ontario where he attended public and high school. From 1960 to 1967 he worked briefly in the cost accounting department of B.F. Goodrich (Canada) Ltd. in Kitchener, Ontario. Later he was employed as a land title searcher for the law firm of McGibbon, Harper & Haney in Waterloo, Ontario. John began his studies at Waterloo Lutheran University in 1967, graduating with a B.A. in English Literature in 1971. John went on to study at Knox College, University of Toronto from 1971 to 1974, graduating with the degree of Master of Divinity. Ordained as a minister in The Presbyterian Church in Canada in May of 1974, John was appointed to the pastoral charge of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Chauvin and St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Wainwright in Alberta. He was the minister there from 1974 to 1979. John was inducted as minister in the Knox Presbyterian Church in Weyburn, Saskatchewan in June of 1979, where he remained for the rest of his career, retiring in April of 2006. John served a term as Moderator of the Presbytery of Edmonton, a term as Moderator of the Presbytery of Assiniboia and a term as Moderator of the Synod of Saskatchewan. He was also a Clerk of the Presbytery of Assiniboia for eight years. John became an Honourary Member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch in Chauvin, Alberta as well as the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 47 in Weyburn. He served as the Chaplain to the Weyburn branch since 1980. John was awarded the Meritorious Life Membership in the Royal Canadian Legion by the Weyburn Branch in 1980. John was also appointed a voluntary Chaplain for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in 1993 and for the Weyburn Fire Department in 2003. John was also the recipient of the Weyburn Chamber of Commerce, the "Golden Spike Award" for service to the community in 2003. John will be lovingly remembered by his brother, the Reverend Jim Ferrier (Olga) of Maxville, Ontario; nephew, Alexander "Alex" (Amber) Ferrier of Ottawa, Ontario and great nephew, Toben Ferrier. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fletcher Funeral Chapel, Weyburn, Saskatchewan and the Funeral Service will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. from Knox Presbyterian Church, Weyburn, Saskatchewan with the Reverend Jay Song officiating. Funeral Lunch & Fellowship will follow the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 47. Interment will take place at a later date.
