Services Held for Mrs. J. Rutherford
On Monday evening of last week, on her way to attend a farewell gathering to Rev. C.G. Boyd, until recently minister of St. Andrew's church, Mrs. John Rutherford suffered a heart attack and was taken to the GWM Hospital where she passed on, shortly after being admitted. She was in her 56th year.
A life-long resident of Perth, she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mres. William Graham, and was married in May 1907, to John Rutherford, night superintendent of the East Ward plant of the Code Felt and Knitting Co. Ltd.
Besides her husband, Mres. Rutherford is survived by six sons: Argyle, Ronald, Wilfred, James, Gordon and Charles; and one daughter, Mres Edgar Belerley, all of Perth. Also surviving are three sisters, mres. Frank Byrne, Perth; Mrs. Louis Keetch, Jamesville, NY; and Mrs. Thos. Belanger, Syracuse, NY.
A devout member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian church, Mres. Rutherford was highly esteemed throughout Perth and district by all who knew her.
Final tribute was paid to Mrs. Rutherford when a large number of her friends and acquaintances attended the funeral service on Thursday in Alex Blair and Son's funeral home conducted by Rev. C.G. Boyd, after which the remains were entombed in the vault at Elmwood cemetery to await burial in the spring.
The pallbearers were Wellington Douglas, John Wilson, Hugh Brady, Joh O'Neil, Roy Baveron and Vincent McGarry. Relatives from a distance attending the funeral were Mrs. Ferguson Drummond, of Carleton Place; Mr. and Mrs. William Rutherford, of Montreal; Harold Rutherford, of Syracuse, NY; and James Rutherford, of Marcellus, NY; Mr and Mrs L. Keech, Jamesville, NY; Mrs Mary Boulange, Syracuse, and Mrs. Agnes Black, Appleton.
