Elmer James Ashby
It was with a feeling of deep regret that relatives and friends learned of the death of Elmer James Ashby in the Victoria Hospital, Renfrew, on March 8th, 1964, following a two months' illness due to a heart condition. He was in his 45th year.
Funeral service was conducted from Young's Funeral Parlor, Lanark, to Balderson United Church with Rev. A. McKinley Rose officiating. Interment was in Playfair Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Messrs. Ronald Bulloch, O.E. Rothwell, William Closs, Ollie Barr, Ian McLean, and James Playfair.
Born at the homestead near Playfairville, Ontl, deceased was the son of the late James Ashby and his wife, Bessie Thompson. He was united in marriage at Perth by the Rev. R.B. Vanstone on June 24th, 1963, to Myrtle Isobel Buker, who survives to mourn his loss. Also surviving is his mother, Mrs Jas. Ashby, Lanark, one brother, Morley, one sister, (Wilma) Mrs Robert Paul of Perth, two nieces and one nephew. Two brothers, Harold and William predecease him.
He was well known in Lanark and district as a first class cattle drover and was fond of the outdoors.
The many floral tributes were an expression of the esteem in which he was held.
