  	Lanark Era, Wed. June 27th 1900 D Bathurst, near Fallbrook, the infant dau (13 mos.) of Mr.& Mrs. John Ashby, by drowning. The parents lost three children to diphtheria about four years ago. Burial at Playfair cemetery. Fallbrook (News) A little girl of Mr John Ashby, about thirteen months old, was accidentally drowned in a tub of water on Monday afternoon. Much sympathy is felt for Mr. Ashby and family. The Lanark Era Lanark, Ontario, Canada 27 Jun 1900, Wed  ?W  Page 5 The home of Mr. and Mrs. John Ashby, of Bathurst, (near Fallbrook), was plunged into sorrow on Monday by the death by drowning of their thirteen-month old daughter. The little one had been out of its parents sight scarcely three minutes, but during that time had fallen into a firkin of water outside the door, and when discovered life was extinct. More than their share of trouble has fallen to the lot of Mr. and Mrs. Ashby, as only about four years ago three of their little ones were taken away in a brief period by diphtheria.
