Miller, aged 23 years 1883, Friday August 3, The Almonte Gazette page 3 OBITUARY -- To chronicle the death of the aged from time to time is an unavoidable necessity, however painful it may be, but the painful feelings are intensified when it becomes the duty of the journalist to record the death of the young and promising, as we have to do this week in announcing the death of Mr Jas R. Miller, so well and widely known from his connection as clerk in Wylie's store. The disease which carried him off was inflammation of the bowels with which his naturally strong and vigourous constitution battled for nearly a fortnight, hope and fear alternately predominating; but alas! the disease proved the victor, and on Tuesday afternoon at three o'clock the end came, and a loving son, an affectionate brother, a pleasant companion and a faithful servant was no more. His pleasant face and obliging manners will be missed at the store. The large number of people from town and country who turned out to attend the funeral, which took place yesterday, was ample evidence of the high esteem in which he was held by all. The family, and especially the bereaved mother. have the deep sympathy of the public.
