  	Many were the hearts that were saddened when it became known in Perth that Mary Ellen McKay, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John McKay of Perth, had passed away in Ottawa, on Sunday, Sept. 17th. Endocarditis following rheumatic fever was given as the cause of the untimely death of one of Perth's finest young ladies. The late Miss McKay was of a winsome and charming personality that won for her a host of friencs wherever she went, and each and every one of these friends united in extending to her sowrrowing parents, sisters and brothers the most sincere sympathy in their sad bereavement. Born in North Elmsley township, the late Miss McKay came to Perth with her parents several years ago. She graduated from Perth Business College and was ably filling a position in an Ottawa offie where her fatal illness came upon her. The remains were brought to Peryth and the funeral took place from the family home to Rideau Ferry cemetery on Tuesday afternoon Sept. 19th. The pallbearers were G.G. Martin, Donald Fraser, Graeme Foote, Wm. McLean, James Coutts adn Ernest Millar. Rev. J.H. Miers conducted the services at the house and grave. Among friends from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. J. Black, Miss Minnie Black and Miss Irene Marriott, of Ottawa, and Mr. George Wood of Smiths Falls. Besides the sorrowing parents, there remains to mourn her early death, two brothers, George of Otty Lake, and Allan of North Bay, and three sisters, Miss Amy and Anna of Montreal, and Jean at home.
