  	Mrs James Cowie Just a few weeks ago Mrs Jas Cowie went to Ottawa to spend the winter with her daughter, Mrs Martin, and with bright prospects for recovery from an illness from which she had been suffering since last March, On Thursday of last week all hope, however, was abandoned and she entered into rest. The late Mrs Cowie was Charlotte McKerracher, who was born in Bathurst township in 1850. In 1872 she was married to James Cowie, who predeceased her on Jan 1, 1890, and coming to Almonte with him had since resided here. There were six of a family, one girl and five boys, Mrs L.B. Martin, Ottawa, Messrs, Robt and Edmund of Schenectady, N.Y.; James L. of Carberry, Man,; Norman and Percy, at Sault St Marie, Ont. With the exception of Mr Jas Cowie, all were home for the funeral, which took place on Sunday afternoon to the eighth line cemetery, the services being conducted by Rev S.G. Brown, of the Presbyterian church. The friends and neighbours of deceased unite in expressing sympathy to the bereaved family in the loss of a kind and loving mother.
