  	Home Destroyed Valier Man is Burned to Death Sylvester Hess, 72, died at 4:00 pm Friday in a fire which destroyed his home in Valier. He was alone at the time of the tragedy. The body has been taken to the Brayfield Funeral Home in Sesser. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Mr. Hess was born April 10, 1894 at Caledonia, PA, the son of George and Carrie (Sheasley) Hess. He was married to Laura Miller, who survives. He is also survived by three sons, George W. Hess and David C. Hess, both of Bettendorf, IA, and Gerald W. Hess, at home; a daughter, Miss Sylvia Mae Hess of Evansville, Ind.; three sisters, Miss Ethel Belle Hess of Williamsport, PA; Mrs Beatrice Gray and Mrs Etta Russell, both of Augusta, GA. Mr. Hess was a member of the Valier Methodist church.
