- Robert F. Adams Sr., 76, of Sanford, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at Aleda E. Lutz V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw.
He was born on Jan. 30, 1933, in Dearborn, son of the late James and Dorothy (Wheeler) Adams . Robert had served with the U.S. Navy for 20 years in sonar technology. On Sept. 28, 1973, he married Carmen Moreno. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved to fish, was a member of the Sanford American Legion Post #443, a member of the Fleet Reserve Association and attended Sanford Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen; two sons, Robert F. (Janet) Adams Jr. of Lake City, and Timothy B. Adams of Marion; three daughters, Michelle D. Wagner of Ypsilanti, Deborah K. Adams (Russell Baughan) of Marion, and Toni K. (Bryan) Swiler of Marion; two stepdaughters, Phyllis (Doug) Lewis of Gladwin, and Patricia ( Robert ) Linton of Dewitt; 41 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by one brother, James Adams ; and one sister, Dorothy Adams .
Funeral services will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2009, at the Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. The Rev. Janet Larner will officiate, with burial in Midland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Robert 's family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, from 10 a.m. until time of service.
