- Miss Willows Dies - 74 Years (September 20, 1972 - Carleton Place Canadian)
On Wednesday, September 20, 1972 , following a brief illness, there passed peacefully to rest at Carleton Place Hospital, Olive Crozier Willows, eldest daughter of the late Wesley Willows and his wife Margaret Hammond at the age of 74 years. Olive was born at the parental home in Boyd's Settlement and throughout the years that she lived at home gave unstintingly of herself to her family, the church that she loved, all worthwhile community activities. Her mother was bedridden for seven years before her death and during that time Olive devoted herself to her care and comfort. For some years she nursed at the Perley Hospital in Ottawa until poor health caused her retirement. She and her sister, Mabel, have lived on Munro Street, Carleton Place for some years but she has always maintained contact with Boyd's. She is survived by a nephew, Gerald Willows, who, because of his mother's death following his birth, grew up under the aunts care and supervision. Also surviving are two sisters, Eleanor, (Mrs. Russell Craig) and Mabel and her brother Earl, of Boyd's. She was predeceased by her brothers, Russell and Wilbert. Rev. K. J. Murray conducted the funeral from Boyd's United Church and burial was made in the adjoining cemetery. Pallbearers were Sandy Cameron, Cecil Munro, Jack McGill, Clark Greer, Bill Prohaska, and Bill Craig.
