- Mrs. Elizabeth Falconer
Mrs Elizabeth Falconer died in Douglas in the home of her daughter, Mrs. L.W. McDonald, July 20th, 1918.
Though in failing health for some time, the immediate cause of her death was a fall one week ago, caused by a slight stroke, resulting in internal injuries from which she never rallied.
Elizabeth Caithness was born in Kirkwall, Scotland, March 29th, 1840. She was one of seven children who came to Quebec with their parents in 1853; five weeks and four days being consumed in making the voyage. Later the family moved to Grand Haven Michigan, where her parents are buried.
Mrs Falconer was married Dec 27th 1866, in Allegan, to Mr. George Miller of Canada. To this union three children were born, Jennie the wife of L.W. McDonald; Robert C., who died in 1911; and Frank J., of Dallas, Texas. Mr. Miller died in February, 1875.
October 19th, 1880, she was united in marriage to Mr. Thomas Falconer of Saugatuck whom she survived many years.
Mrs. Falconer was possessed of a rare Christian character. She had a strong and radiant faith in God and His goodness, and was ever happy in the consciousness of peace, through her trust in Him. Her influence will long be felt by those who knew her but to love her - for she wove her life into the lives of her friends. As her pastor so beautifully expressed it "She accepted life as she found it and made it Immortal." She is survived by two children and five grandchildren.
