  	obituary Ritchie One by one the sterling landmarks of the townships are being removed and in the death of Mrs Jessie Ritchie of Bathurst, one who enjoyed the respect and admiration of the community has passsed on to her eternal reward. A slight stroke in June, 1931, followed by one of great severity in December resulted in her death on Saturday, February 6th, 1932. Hers was a long life - 81 years and ten months and a life peculiarly devoted to her family. Brightness of intellect and a keen sense of humor characterized her in sickness and in health. Truly a beautiful life fragrant with kindliness, unselfishness and Christian courage has been lived amongst us. Much comfort was brought to her life, particularly at the time most needed, by the kinly and helpful ministrations of her daughter Winnifred - her constant companion. On February 28th, 1863 deceased, whose maiden name was Jessie Nichol, was married to George Ritchie who predeceasesd her on December 23rd, 1895. To the union were born a family, nine in number all of whom survive, viz., George of Brandon; Charles of Edmonton; John N., of San Franciso; Thomas F. of Berwyn, Alta; Emily, Mrs Fred Scott of Westport; Jessie, Mrs Donald Bicknell, Dryden Ont., Lillian, Mrs Oswald Allan, Balderson; Irene, Mrs E.H. Hutchings, Westport and Winnifred at home. The family in their sad loss can be assured of the sympathy of the entire community surrounding the old home in Bathurst. The funeral was held on Monday afternoon when friends and neighbours asssembled at the home to pay a last tribute of respect to one whose sterling worth they so well know and so keenly appreciated. The service was conducted by Rev. Mr Harrison, minister of Calvin Church, after which the body was placed in the vault at Elmood cemetery awaiting interment later on. The pallbearers were Messrs. Gilbert Wilson, Sterling Miller, Harvey Miller, William Stewart, John Murphy Jr. and Calvin Jordan. Floral offerings were received from Mr and Mrs Oswald Allan and family; Mr and Mrs Edward ? Scott and family; Mr and Mrs Jas. McMillan; Mr and Mrs R Dena; Mr Jas. Hirst, Melrose Highlands, Bosston, and Miss Winnifred Ritchie. Perth Courier 4 March 1932, pg 5.
