Mr T.R. White
After an illness of some months Mr T.R. White passed away on Monday, aged 74 years. The late Thomas Robinson White was born in Bathurst township, a son of the late Richard White, and there he made his home until he was married to Charlotte Elizabeth McLaren, forty-five years ago, and immediately afterwards he came to Almonte, and bought out the tinsmithing business of Mr John R. McMunn ( a brother of Mr Wm McMunn of town). Possessed of keen commercial instincts, he gradually increased the business by adding hardware, plumbing and other lines, and was so successful that in the closing years of his life he could enjoy the results of his earlier years of labour and thrift. A family of three children were born to Mr and Mrs White. These were Mrs Jas McCreary (Ida), of Sudbury; Mrs (Dr) Webster (Tot), of Vancouver; and Richard T. at Winnipeg. About twenty-four years ago Mrs White died, and some years later Mr White was again married to Miss Mirtena Barrie, who is still living. Three brothers, John C. of Carleton Place; Richard E., of Fisher, Minn, and George of Almonte, and one sister, Mrs D. McGregor, of Moose Jaw, Sask, are also living. Among those who attended the funeral, which took place on Wednesday afternoon, were Mrs McGregor, Mrs McCreary, Mr. John C. White, Mrs Daly, Ottawa; Mr Robert Stewart, Lanark, and Messrs Cram of Carleton Place. The pallbearers were Messrs Wm Thoburn, P.J. Young, J.H. Conn, H.R. Warren, E.H. Knight, and J. Wylie.
