A collegiate church, dedicated to St Patrick, was founded at Dumbarton, about 1450, by Isabella, Duches of Albany and countess of Lennox. She endowed it for a probost and six prebendaries, with the churches of Bonhill, Fintray, and Stathblane, and it had also part of the lands of Strathblane; Stuckroger and Forkinch in the parish of Luss; Balernic-beg in Cardros; Knockdouriebarber in Roseneath; and ladytown in Bonhill. The earls of Lennox were patrons. ... A single arch, supposed to be the remains of this church, is still seen, close to the town.

Note: A seond Isobel Lindsay live or married in Bonhill to a John McEchany. By comparing children of families I was able to determine that there were two Isobel Lindsay's, one who continued to live in Bonhill and Isobell, who married William Miller and lived in Cardross after her marriage. I also discovered that there were at least three John McEchany in Bonhill raising families simultaneously.
