- A 'Google Earth' view of this property shows it to be low, wet, swampy property. Access to the Scotch Line was over property (Lot 8NE) owned by Abraham, his brother, or Captain McMillan (Lot 7NE). Both of these properties fronting onto the Scotch Line had arable land. John's lot, was situated on an old shoreline for a body of water, the remenants of which form Otty Lake. Even today the 9th line of North Burgess township ends about the frontage of John's property.
