Death - The Perth Courier - May 6, 1898
Campbell - At Montreal, on Thursday morning, 5th May, Mr. Duncan Campbell, of Oliver's Ferry, Lanark County, aged 85 years.

F.G. Campbell received word of the death of his grandfather Duncan Campbell of Montreal at the residence of his son-in-law Thomas Gilday. The funeral will take place to Oliver's Ferry on the arrival of the 1:00 train from Montreal on Saturday. He was an old resident.

Obituary - The Perth Courier - May 13, 1898
The body of the late Duncan Campbell of Oliver's Ferry, was brought from Montreal and interred on Saturday afternoon in the Oliver's Ferry Cemetery. Deceased was born in Monlin, Glen Lyon, Perthshire, Scotland and was brought to this country by his friends when an infant. He was married to a daughter of the late Rev. George Buchanan, Presbyterian minister of Beckwith who survives him. Among his surviving children are Mrs. Hoops of Toronto and Mrs. Gilday of Montreal. He was a grandfather of Mr. F. G. Campbell of this town. He was a Presbyterian in religion and in politics a Liberal. About 1876/1878 he was appointed by the Mackenzie government care taker of the Ferry Bridge, then first built, and he kept the position until advancing years forced his retirement.

Golden Wedding Anniversary - The Perth Courier Newspaper - Issue of April 3, 1891 -
The Montreal Witness contains the following paragraph regarding the Golden Wedding of two well known and respected residents of this section: "At the residence of their son-in-law Thomas Gilday, 76 City Councillor Street, Mr. and Mrs. Duncan Campbell of Ferry Bridge near Perth celebrated their Golden Wedding amidst much rejoicing. Twenty children and grandchildren and one great grandchild were present. Among the friends were Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Campbell, Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Smyth, Rev. Dr. and Mrs. Miller, Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gilday of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, Mr. and Mrs. Lilly, Mrs. J. S. Brown, Mrs. Carmochan, Mr. and Mrs. F. Campbell, Mrs. R. Gilday or Toronto, Mrs. J. Hoops of Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. D. Campbell of Oliver's Ferry. The bride and bridegroom were the recipients of many valuable presents. Many letters of congratulations were received. A short address was delivered by the Rev. Messrs Campbell, Smyth and Heine, responded to by Rev. Mr. Miller on behalf of the couple bringing a very happy evening to a close. Mrs. Duncan Campbell is a daughter of the late Rev. George Buchanan, M.P., Beckwith."
