- Walnut Grove Rites For Elmer Marquardt
Funeral services were held this afternoon in Walnut Grove English Lutheran church for Elmer Fred Marquardt, 62, former Walnut Grove resident, who died of cancer Friday evening in Chaska. Rev. Leif Monson conducted the service and Veron Zempel provided the music. Interment was in the Echo cemetery. Pallbearers were Harlen Boushek, Stanley Benson, Merle Jette, Harold Weiss Jr., Jerry Marquardt and Donald Miller.
Mr. Marquardt was born June 24, 1905, in Echo, a son of Hugo and Mathilda Marquardt. He married Ella E. Miller October 16, 1950, and they lived in Walnut Grove 13 years. He operated a restaurant there. Two years ago they moved to Chaska where he was custodian of Minnetonka West Junior High school. He was a member of the Lutheran church and Alfred Nelson American Legion post in Walnut Grove.
Survivors include his wife; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Charles (Verna) Boushek, Anoka, Mrs. Alfred (Edna) Benson, Vesta, Mrs. Rudolph (Velma) Hahn and Herbert Marquardt, Minneapolis, Lester Marquardt, Mankato, Mrs. Orend (Hilda) Rikke, Franklin, Wilbert Marquardt, Excelsior, Mrs. Irene Hahn, Verndale, Mrs. Eldo (Dorothy) Schoer, Lamberton, Mrs. Marvin (Elvira) Bruss, Cambridge, Mrs. Frank (Adeline) Williams, Redwood Falls, Warren Marquardt, Echo, Gerold Marquardt, Essig, and Mrs. A. V. (Lois) Mueller, St. Peter.
