John Jopprud, 83, resident of Southwest Community Lodge, Shaunavon, died in hospital here Friday, June 5, 1964 following a lengthy illness. A resident of the Admiral district since coming to Canada in 1910 until 1926. He farmed in that area until 1921 when he moved into the townsite for the next five years. In 1926 he purchased W. J. Keller's Cockshutt Implements business in Shaunavon, operating this until his retirement in 1940. Born on April 13, 1881, in Norway, he and his parents immigrated to the United States in 1883, living in Minnesota. On July 18, 1912, the deceased married Mrs. Marion McIntyre at Swift Current.
Predeceased by one daughter, Marie in 1924, Mr. Jopprud is survived by his wife and three step sons: Bob McIntyre of Calgary, Howard McIntyre of Vancouver, and Harold McIntyre of Vancouver. One step-daughter, Mrs. Lila Magnuson resides at Admiral, Sask. There are also living 23 grandchildren, 64 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday, June 9, 1964 from Centre Street United Church with the Rev. D. Lawrence officiating. Interment was at Admiral Cemetery. Pallbearers were Vernon McIntyre, Albert McIntyre, Frank Dunham, Archie Magnuson, Manly Magnuson and Gordon Bymoen.
Binkley's Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
