Mrs. M. Aikenhead dies in 95th year, buried in Almonte.
A resident of Renfrew for the past sixteen years and well loved by all who knew her, Mrs. Matthew Aikenhead died at the home of her son, William on Friday, May 28, 1953 after an illness of several months. She was in her 95th year, but took a very active interest in local affairs.
Mrs. Aikenhead was born in the Township of Drummond on June 6, 1858, the daughter of George Blair and Mary McIlquham. She lived there for some years
before moving to Almonte. She also lived in Pa(c)kenham before coming to Renfrew for the last sixteen years of her life. A member of the United Church, Mrs.Aikenhead was always very active in church work during her lifetime.
She married Matthew Aikenhead in Drummond in 1890. He predeceased her in 1924.
The funeral took place from McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home on Sunday, May 31st, 1953 where service was conducted by Rev C.G. Ward at 2 p.m. Interment
took place at Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. Pallbearers were Harold Blair and W.A. Scott of Pa(c)kenham, Milton Blair, Arnprior, H.M. Blair, George Blair and Wesley Playfair, all of Lanark.
Mrs. Aikenhead leaves to mourn her loss one son, William of Renfrew, one daughter, Miss Mary of Toronto, one brother Samuel of Duluth, Minnesota, 3 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Aikenhead '96 At her son's residence, 59 Raglan Street North, Renfrew on Friday May 29th, Rebecca Blair, beloved wife of the late Matthew Aikenhead in her 95th year.
The body rested at McPhail & Perkins Funeral Home until Sunday, May 31st, when service was held at 2 p.m. Interment in Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte.

Well known in Almonte and Pa(c)kenham District, Mrs. Matthew Aikenhead died at the home of her son William Aikenhead, Renfrew druggist on Friday May 29th.
At 95 she still took a keen interest in both local and world events and had been ill for only two months. Mrs. Aikenhead was the former Rebecca Blair ad was born in Drummond Township, daughter of the late George Blair and his wife Mary McIlquham. Following her marriage to Matthew Aikenhead in 1890 she and her husband farmed in Almonte district until his death 29 years ago. Since then she lived with her son, first at Pa(c)kenham and then in Renfrew for the past 16 years. She was a member of the United Church and was an active worker in various church organizations during her lifetime.
Besides her son she is survived by one daughter, Mary of Toronto, and a brother, Samuel Blair of Duluth, Minnesota, three grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
The funeral service was conducted at the McPhail and Perkins Funeral Home Renfrew by Reverend Gardner Ward on Sunday at two o'clock, Interment was made in the Auld Kirk, Ramsay, Almonte.
