Death |
23 Aug 1902 |
- Saturday afternoon the startling intelligence was heralded that Robert Walker was dead and that his death was sudden and unexpected. Mr. Walker had not slept much the night before. He had been having considerable trouble with his heart for some time and as a consequence he spent many sleepless nights. Saturday afternoon he had been lying down, about 4 o'clock he came into the sitting room and sat down in his easy chair near the window. His folks did not notice anything amiss and thought he had fallen asleep. when it was nearly supper time they attempted to arouse him, then it was the terrible discovery was made. Dr. Buchen was summoned and when he arrived he pronounced Mr. Walker beyond the reach of human aid. His heart had ceased to perform its proper functions.
The funeral occurred from the house Monday afternoon, Rev. Medlar of the Congregational Church officiating. A large number of old friends and heighbors gathered to pay their last respects to him who had been one of the prime factors in the growth and development of our magnificent village. Two children besides his wife survive Mr. Walker. They are Mrs. Herbert Teeson of Forest River, ND and Mrs. Teesen of Waterloo, Quebec. The former accompanied by her husband was present at the funeral. Three brothers and two sisters survive him. They are James, Daniel and William, and Mrs. Andrew Purdon of Alexandria and Mrs. Joseph Gilpin of Osseo, WI.
