- An Ex-mayor of Perth
Mr. Joshua Adams, of Sarnia, after spending a week or so with friends in Perth and Glen Tay, returned home on Monday. Mr Adams was at one time the mayor of Perth, and at the time the town was incorporated - 1n 1852- the commission for holding the first municipal elections was sent to him.

- The Family of the late Joshua Adams JP, by Rev. Alvah Adams
The eleventh child of Joshua and Elizabeth Adams, named Joshua, (the second son of that name), was born at Adamsville, April 5th, 1825; studied law, and through certain influential persons who knew his family at Perth, such as Hon. M. Cameron anad Sheriff Flintoff, he was induced to follow them to the town of Sarnia and open a law office there, which profession he has followed in that town fifteen or twenty years; has been Mayor of that town, and is very active as an official member of the anada Methodist Church. Of the Joshuas who lived to adult years, this is the order: 1st Captain Joshua Adams, of Basstard and Perth; 2nd Joshua Adams, Barrister, etc., Sarnia; 3rd Joshua, son of Arza Adams; 4th Joshua, son of Alvah Adams, of the Customs, etc., Sarnia.
Joshua Adams, the lawyer, has been twice married: first, to Ann Padfield, daughter of the Rev. James Paadfield, Episcopalian minister. She was born in York, May 28th, 1827 and died at Sarnia June 28th 1868. His present wife is the daugher of Wm. arman, Esq. of Fredricton New Brunswick. She was born June 6th 1831. Her name is Harriet Amelia. Mr. Adams has no issue by either marriage.

During his long practice Joshua Adams was known as a widely read lawyer, a close student and a learned gentleman.
