- Obituary - Archibald Foster
The eighth line and surrounding district were shocked and sadden by the sudden death which occurred on Saturday, April 9th, of one of its loved and most popular residents, Archibald Foster. He was the son of the late James Foster and Eliza Ann Morris.
The late Archibald Foster was born on April12th, 1873, on the tenth line of Bathurst. His early life being shanty work and river driving.
In 1897 he was married to the late Francis Gibson who predeceased him ten years ago. After his marriage they lived at Fallbrook for some time later moving to the eleventh line and was occupied by farming. Later, moving to the eighth line where he lived until his death.
To them were born six daughters and four sons, Nellie, Mrs Robert Innes, Fallbrook;Jessie, Mrs Charles Smith, New York; Violet, Mrs. Calvin Code, Innisville; Sadie, Mrs. William Mather, Balderson; Fanny, Mrs. Harold Blair, Brooke; Gertrude, Mrs Oscar Skaug, Brooke; James, Watsons Corners; David, Bathurst; Charles, Bathurst; and Joseph Foster survives in Carrott River, Sask. Other deceased members of the family two sisters and three brothers, Annie, Mrs. Hill; Sarah, Mrs Greer; John, James, and William.
The funeral was froml the house to St. Stephen's Church, Brooke, and was held Tuesday, April 12 (that being his birthday) at three o'clock. Rev. Porter of Maberly officiated. Burial was held in Brooke cemetery. Two favourite hymns were: "What a Fried We Have In Jesus" and "Nearer, My God to Thee."
The pallbeareres were Robert McVeigh, John McDougall, William Charles, neighbours, Lloyd Foster, Lloyd and Wilbert Greer, nephews of the deceased.
