  Married: ... marriage certificate of his eldest son Robert Ashby of Wellingborough. This certificate is now in the possession of John Ashby of Heyford. It is dated 2nd July 1753 and describes Robert Ashby as the son of John Ashby of Bugbrooke Yeoman, and his wife as Sarah Bannage of Handslope Bucks. They were married at Sherrington. Endorsed on the certificate are memoranda of the births of their children. The following is a list of the relatives who were witnesses to the marriage.
