  Married: Walter married Mary Boyce June 25, 1924. They had no children. When Mary died in 1942 Walter remarried and he died in Florida in 1951. Mary was the eldest child born to George Henry Boyce and Catherine Hickey. Mary married later in life at the age of 48 to Walter Renwick Knox, a former Track and Field Olympian.
