5921 Gemmill A. was born in 1843. He was killed in 1863 by a falling tree. Supposedly he was buried in the Huron County area, at Eaglesham Cem. off Hwy 9, but those bodies were eventually moved elsewhere.

According to Anna (nee Hood) Smith #58281986, "Gemmill left the Lanark County area about 1860-62 and made his home with his brother Will Hood just southwest of Clifford, Ont. He was killed by a falling tree while clearing land with his brothers Andrew and Will and was taken to Will's house for the funeral. He died about 1862 or 1863."

5944 George Adams petitioned the General Court for confirmation of his claim to the two hundred acres of land in Lancaster which he had acquired from the Sachem Shoniow some years earlier (Mass. Archives, Boston, 45:165).

Adams, George II (I13963)

5945 George Adams was "killed at Wat(ertown) 10 Oct 1696 by the fall of a rock, according to the verdict of Coroner's Jury, preserved in the Suffolk Court files".
Frances Adams, 'Relict widow of George Adams late of Cambridge Husbandman Deced' was appointed administor of his estate on 28 Oct 1696. The inventory of the estate of George Adams Senr late of Cambridge who deced ye 10th of Octobr, 1696 was taken 19 Oct 1696, and amounted to ?61 13 s. 8d. In this inventory appears an entry for "two hundred and sixty acres of Land at Lancaster" valued at ?50.

5946 George Adams was one of the first settlers of the Town of Watertown, Massachusetts.
Gravesite Details Genealogies of the Families and Descendants of the Early Settlers of Watertown, Massachusetts, by Dr. Henry Bond (1860)
Adams, George II (I13963)

5947 George Adams, the oldest of the four sons of William Adams and his wife, the former Miss Borington, married Miss Streetholt who is the daughter of Conrad Streetholt, a merchant London.

George Adams is the father of George Adams of Waterton. George was a Lieutenant in the service of Charles I, the English King who was later beheaded (1600-1649).

George died in Barbados in 1647. Perhaps he did not dare to return to England with public opinion running so strongly against King Charles.

George's brother Ambrose lived and died in Barbados. In 1680 he was living in St. Michaelas near the present city of Bridgeton.

5950 George Baird passes to Rest. The death of Mr. George Baird at his home on Charles Street yesterday morning came as a surprise to many of his friends who had no idea that he was so seriously ill. His ailment was diabetes, from which he had been suffering for some time, although he was able to be about his work as usual until within the last week. Mr. Baird was born in Westmeath, being a son of the late William Baird of that township, and was 47 years of age. He was one of a family of seven children, and his death is the first break in the family circle. About 17 years ago he came to Carleton Place to reside, and for the past 12 years he had been engaged in the Hawthorn Mills. He is survived by his wife, formerly Christena McCleish, and two sons, Harvey and Elmer. Also by three brothers and three sisters, viz.. John in Carleton Place, William and James in Westmeath; Mrs. Wm. Major and Mrs. S. J. Baird, of Ottawa, and Mrs. T. Kilgour, of Matheson, Ont. He was a member of Memorial Park Church and of the Can. Order of Chosen Friends. The funeral is fixed for to-morrow afternoon to Memorial Park Church and Pine Grove Cemetery. The bereaved family have the sympathy of many friends in their season of sorrow.
