5029 | Ferrier - Cuthbertson A church wedding of much interest was solemnized at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Ingersoll, Ont., on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 6th at 2:30 o'clock, when Miss Kathleen Galbraith, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D.G. Cuthbertson, Oxford St., was united in marriage to Harold Poole Ferrier of Yarker, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ferrier of Perth, Rev. Geo. W. Wood officiating in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends. The bride, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a becoming gown of white radium silk over white satin, with the customary bridal veil with bandeau of pearls and carried a beautiful bouquet of Ophelia roses. She wore a large sprig of white heather sent from Scotland. The bride was attended by two bridesmaids, Miss Ruth Cuthbertson, sister of the bride, and Miss Marion Noxon of Ingersoll. Miss Cuthbertson wore a charming gown of peach Canton crepe and Miss Noxon looked charming in a blue Canton crepe frock. Little Mary Swan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Swan, of Toronto, a tiny cousin of the bride, was the flower girl, wearing a dainty pale blue taffeta frock. The best man was Alister Frasser of Toronto, and the ushers were William Murray and Charles Christie of Ingersoll. Immediately following the cermony the bridal party motored to the house, where a dainty buffet luncheon was served to about fifty guests. Mr and Mrs Ferrier left on the five o'clock train for the wedding trip to be spent in Atlantic City and other points, the bride travelling in a handsom nigger brown Canton crepe frock with silver and brown silk radium lace, and wearing brown hat and coat, Upon their return Mr. and Mrs. Ferrier will take up their residence at Yarker, where the groom is manager of the Bank of Montreal. 5031 | Ferrier - Rudsdale A very happy event took place at the home of Mr and Mrs R.M. Rudsdale on the 3rd line of Bathurst, on Tuesday, Septemger 4th, 1923, at the hour of 11 o'clock a.m., when their eldest daughter Miss Louise Hildred Rudsdale was united in marriage to Mr. George Mervyn Ferrier, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jno. F. Ferrier of the Scotch Line, the ceremony being solemnized by Rev. J.H. Miers, B.D., minister of Knox Church. The bride was given away by her father, while the young married couple were supported by Mr. Aleander Alfred Ferrier and Miss Margaret Rudsdale. The groom's gift to the bride was a pearl necklace, to the bridesmaid, an onyx brooch, to the flower girl a string of beads. During the signing of the register, Mrs Harold Ferrier sang "Until" very acceptably, after which the assembled guests, who were all immediate relatives, sat down to a very sumptous dinner, during the course of which the usual toasts were proposed and responded to. The newly married couple left on the 1:45 train for Toronto where they spent the balance of the week, returning on Saturday. An unique feature of the event was, that they were accompanied on their wedding trip by Mr and Mrs Ernest Ferrier, of Montrea, who were married on the previous Saturday. Many valuable presents testify to the great esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Ferrier were held in the community. They will take up their residence on the Scotch Line upon their return, followed by the good wishes of their many friends. The bride's wedding gown was of white canton crepe and she carried a bouquet of Ophelia roses and maiden hair fern. Her travelling suit was navy tricotine, mink fur and hat to match. 5047 | Final Tribute Paid To Accident Victim A tragic accident at his place of employment, the Fleetwood Garage in King Township, Ont, Friday morning, claimed the life of Gordon MacFarlane, wellknown Almonte young man. A son of David and the late Mrs MacFarlane, Gordon had a wide circle of friends in Almonte and district, and many felt a distant sense of shock and loss at his untimely end. Adding to the sadness of his passing was the fact that he had been married only two months ago to Ruth Barr of this town. The sincere sympathy of the town and surrounding community is extended to the young widow, the father, the members of the immediate family, and others who mourn his loss. Born twenty-five years ago at McKillop Township in Huron County, Gordon moved to Almonte with his family when he was 16 years of age. He had lived here since, except for a period of study in Toronto and the Southern States, until shortly before his wedding in October. Since their marriage the young couple had been residing in King. There survive, in addition to his wife and father, two sisters, Elizabeth, Mrs Allan Thompson of the 7th line of Ramsay and Jean, a student at the Eastern Bible College, Peterborough, and two brothers, Robert and Lloyd of Almonte. Also surviving is his aged grandmother, Mrs George MacFarlane, and an number of uncles and aunts. The largely-attended funeral was held on Monday afternoon from the Comba Funeral Home, with Rev Arthur Hirtle and Rev T. DeCoury Rayner conducting the service. Many beautiful floral tributes testified to the high esteem in which the young man was held. Interment was at the Auld Kirk Cemetery. Pallbearers were Desmond Smithson, William Johnson, William Blakeley, Carman Munro, Ronald Thompson and Morley Alexander.
