47854 | Widely Known Athlete Dies Harry Stone Reynolds, widely known Calgary lacross enthusiast, died at his home, 911 14th Ave. W. His lacross career began when as a young boy he played for his home town, Renfrew, Ont. He played in Winnipeg from 1898 to 1904 and was active in Calgary lacrosse circles from 1904 until he became too old to play. He coached the old Western Canada College team for a season to encourage the sport among Calgary boys. Mr. Reynolds came to Calgary in 1904, shortly afterwards moving to Crows Nest Pass where he joined the C.P.R. survey party. Later he returned to Calgary. He was employed as a manufacturers' agent in Calgary, in 1904, and was one of the oldest members of the Northwest Commercial Travellers' Association. He was a member of the Zetland Lodge A.F. and A.M., and Wesley United church. Mr. Reynolds married the former Gertrude Agnes Dunlop in Calgary in 1908. His daughter, Donna, recently started the Girls' Town Club in Calgary. He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Donna, and Mrs. A. E. Langston; three brothers, Thomas, Winnipeg; Jack, Watrous, Sask.; and Jim, Pembroke, Ont. Deceased was born in October, 1879, at Almonte, a daughter of the late Thomas R. White and his wife, Charlotte E. Mclaren In 1907 she married Charles A.R. Dulmage, Almonte, who passed away in 1913. In 1916 she was married in Arnprior to James McCreary who predeceased her in 1935. During her lifetime she resided at Almonte, Arnprior, Sudbury and Toronto. For the past 10 years she had been a resident of Perth. Surviving are one son, G.R. Dulmage, Q.C., Perth; a daughter, (Mary Elizabeth), Mrs E.W. Kenrick, Haileybury, Ont; one brother, Richard T. White, Vancouver, B.C., and a sister, (Charlotte), Mrs H. Webster, Vancouver. The funeral was held on Tuesday September 10th, at 2 p.m. from the Blair and Son Chapel, to Auld Kirk Cemetery, Almonte. 47871 | Wife of David J. Ennis, 1849-1914. _____ Mrs. David Ennis of Bathurst Township passed away suddenly at her home near Fallbrook last Thursday night at 12 o'clock. She was in her 63rd year. For some time she had been suffering with goitre, but not seriously, and had been attending to her household duties as usual up to the time of her death. Indeed on Thursday afternoon she attended the funeral of a neighbor's child, after returning from which she had done the milking and evening chores, retiring to bed as usual without complaining. Near midnight she awakened her daughter and asked for a drink, and it was then noticed that her condition was serious. Medical attendance was summoned, but before the doctor arrived the spirit had taken flight. Mrs. Ennis was born in the Township of Bathurst. Her maiden name was Elizabeth Ennis. About thirty-five years ago she was married to Mr. Ennis and to them were born six children. One son is dead and those surviving are Mrs. Alex. Buffalo, Lanark; Mrs. Arch. Erwin, Fallbrook; Mrs. Fred. Gilchrist, Perth; Robert and Elsie at home. Four brothers and two sisters also survive - Thomas at Balderson; Arthur, at Fallbrooke; David and Samuel, out West; Mrs. Drupe, Petrol; Maggie at Fallbrook. The funeral took place on Saturday at 3 o'clock to Elmwood cemetery, Perth, Rev. T.L. Born officiating. Mrs. Ennis was a fine type of woman. Her life emphasized the beauties of a charitable heart and hand, ever ready to administer help and sympathy to those in distress. At McKellar Hospital, Fort William, on Tuesday, September 26, 1922, Mrs Jessie Thompson. 1922, Friday October 6, The Almonte Gazette page 7 Mrs Jessie Thompson There passed away at the McKellar Hospital, Fort William, on Sept 26, a former well known resident of Almonte, in the person of Mrs Jessie Thompson, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Andrew Dunlop, Almonte, after a short illness of plural pneumonia. The late Mrs Thompson was born in Almonte in the year 1879 and was married in the year 1902 to L.G. Thompson of Almonte, who predeceased her two years ago. Mrs Thompson is survived by her three daughters and three sons besides her parents and sisters an brothers. Mrs Thompson was a much respected and beloved figure in her community, having been a devout attendant of the First Baptist Church in Fort William. The funeral took place on Friday, September 29, at 2.30 o'clock from her father's residence in Almonte, to the Eighth line Cemetery. The service was conducted by the Rev Mr McCrae, and the Rev George Gomme. 47885 | Wife of Simon Pollock The death of Mrs. Nellie Pollock of Glen Levit, which occurred on Tuesday morning last at the home of her daughter, Mr.s John Lutes, Campbellton has been learned with much regret by many friends and relatives. The late Mr.s Pollock was in her 73rd year. Her husband pre-deceased her fourteen years ago. She is survived by three sons, James F., Glen Levit; Scott and Arnold of Sechelt, B.C.; three daughters, Mrs. John Lutes (Jessie), Campbellton, Mrs. William Myles (Jean), Tidehead and Miss Venie at home. Two sisters, Mrs. Kierstead (Margaret), Glen Levit, Mrs. Irvine (Bella) of Flatlands and one brother, Charles of Glen Levit also survive as well as a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren. The largely attended funeral was held on Thursday afternoon at two o'clock from the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Lutes, Campbelton. Rev. W.F. Thomas conducted the service assisted by Rev. A. C. Crowe. Internment was in the Flatlands cemetery. The pallbearers were Jack Allison, Jack Adams, Rupert Lutes, Reggie Pollock, Wesley and Charles Kierstead. She was born at Perth July 7, 1856, the daughter of John Ferrier of Kenteleen, Scotland and his wife the former Sussanah Lawson of Glasgow Scotland. She was married in Perth to the late Thomas Gibbins who predeceased her on April 20, 1937. A resident of Brockville for about 77 years, who was very active despite her advanced years and up and about all winter long being down town Thursday. She was in the process of dressing when taken by a heart seizure Friday morning. She was the oldest and one of the original members of St. Pauls Anglican church and was very active in all organizations of the church up until the last. She was very well know in Brockville and was highly respected by a wide circle of friends. The last of her family, she leaves to mourn her loss one daughter, Mrs. Margaret Elliott of Ottawa, 12 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The remains will rest at the G. W. Paul funeral parlour until Monday afternoon when the service will be conducted in St. Pauls church at 2o'clock. She was married to prominent Arizona mining leader Walter Douglas in 1902. Their first home, a small adobe house, was given to the Bisbee YWCA when they moved to neighboring Warren in 1909. The couple moved to Phoenix in 1928. Mrs. Douglas was the aunt of of Tucson banker Lewis W. Douglas, former U.S. Ambassador to England. She was active in Phoenix civic projects. Survivors include five children, Mrs. Naomi D. Kitctel (sic), of phoenix; Walter Douglas Jr. of Tucson; Mrs. Katherine S. Douglsa of New York City; Mrs. Elizabeth Williams of Gyndon, Md; and Robert Bell Douglas of Canada. She died at lot 22, concession 8 of North Elmsley. Mary was a widow at the time of her death. Mary was born in North Elmsley on December 24, 1844, the daughter of Thomas Wilson and Ann Beckett. She was of Irish origin, her father being born in Ireland. She died of cancer of the stomach contributed by old age. She was under the care of Dr. W. A. Meighen of Perth from March 1, 1922 to April 8, 1922. The informant of her death was her son, Chas. McLean, of Perth. The undertaker in charge of her funeral was Blair, from Perth.
