WINNSBORO. Jan. 5.
The North Temple Baptist Church of Dallas was the setting recently for the wedding of Miss Annie Laurie Vardaman and Robert Thomas Miller.

Mrs. Daisy Vardaman of Dallas and Mrs. F. J. Miller of Winnsboro, are mothers of the couple. Dr. W. R. White, president of Baylor University, was the officiant at the double-ring ceremony, Miss Jean Wallis, organist, and Miss Ellen Moody, vocalist, presented the nuptial music.

The neckline and elongated bodice were scalloped. The petal-point sleeves were fastened with self-covered buttons and the bouffant skirt formed a semiformal train. The bridal fingertip veil of nylon illusion was caught to a satin melon cap quilted with seed pearls and clusters of deeper pink forget-me-nots. She carried a Bible topped with sweetheart roses and pink satin streamers knotted with stephanotis.

Miss Betty Jane Sullivan was maid of honor and Kayana Sullivan was flower girl. The bride groom was attended by Howard V. Petty as best man. Robert O. Coleman and Richard Bacon were ushers and candlelighters.

During the reception held at the home of the bride's mother, Mrs. A. P. Cage registered tne guests. Mrs. J. Leroy Ballard cut the cake and Mrs. Petty served punch. For a wedding trip to New Orleans, the bride chose a navy blue suit, navy and white accessories and a corsage of sweetheart roses. She was graduated from North Dallas High School and Baylor University, where she was a member of Sigma Tau Delta, Alpha Chi and Kappa Delta Pi.

The bridegroom received his bachelor of Arts and Master's degrees at Baylor and belonged to Alpha Chi. He is taking graduate work at the University of Texas. Mr. and Mrs. Miller will live in Austin. 47660 Verne was born in the old Enderby Hospital, the son of Audrey and Rosa Baird.
He lived in the Okanagan all his life, working as a truck driver. He enjoyed spending time on the road and travelled extensively in BC, Alberta and parts of the American Southwest. He liked to take the rough routes and back roads in life and this got him to some amazing places. Days and nights were mostly spent alone, but what stories he had to tell when he returned from his travels.
Verne had a son, Jeff, (deceased) and a daughter, Jennifer who loved him very much for who he was. He is survived by his brother, Tom (Carine) Baird, and sisters Diane (Art) Norlin, Opal (Doug) McManus and Margaret Baird. He is gone on down another road, but always returns in our memories.
