4451 | DOUGLAS GIBSON DEAD --- Douglas Gibson, fifteen-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. R.M. Gibson, died at the Lacombe Hospital last night. Douglas had been in poor health for several months, and was taken to the hospital about two weeks ago, but his condition steadily became worse and despite every care passed peacefully away on Wednesday night. He had been suffering from rheumatic fever which later affected his heart. Private service will be held at the home at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 6th, 1930. Funeral will be held from St. Andrew's United Church at 2:30 p.m. Saturday Sept. 6th. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Gibson in their bereavement. 4452 | DR ERNEST C. FISH - OF MELROSE BURIED MELROSE, April 27 Funeral services for Dr Ernest C. Fish were conducted this afternoon at his home, 145 Bellevue ave, by Rev Olin B. Tracy, pastor of the First Congregational Church, and burial was In Wyoming Cemetery. Dr Fish was born in Newcastle, NB, Feb 11, 1868, and was a graduate of the University of New Brunswick, Massachusetts School of Pharmacy and McGill Medical School. He had been a practicing physician here 36 years and waa a member of the medical board of the Melrose Hospital. He was a member of the Massachusetts and American Medical Societies and belonged to Wyoming Lodge of Masons. He formerly served on the School Committee here, and during th World War was a member of the Selective Draft Board of this district. Surviving him are his wife, Mrs Bessie Wheeler Fish; a son, Dr James E. 4453 | Dr. D.M. Gibson Dr. Gibson Funeral Tuesday Funeral services for Dr D.M. Gibson, 76, of Trail and Vancouver will be held Tuesday at 1 pm at Mt. Pleasant Funeral Home. He died Friday. Dr Gibson graduated from Queen's Medical School in 1910. He was the founder of five cheese factories near Renfrew, Ontario. In 1918 he moved to Drumheller, Alberta where he was one of the organizers of Gibson Collieries. Retired in 1940 Since his retirement from active medical practice in 1940 he has been living in Trail and Vancouver. He is survived by four children: Donald Campbell, Vancouver; Alexander Murray, Rossland; George Gordon, Calgary, and Mrs Robert Stark, Renfrew, Ontario. Pallbearers Named He was a member of the Masonic Order and of the Knights of Pythias. Pallbearers will be M.M. MacDonald, I.M. McGarry, Wilson Gouge, Arthur Jones, Lacy Harris and Dr. L.E. Brogden. 4454 | DR. E. H. HEATON DEAD. Leesburg Physician Was In Jll Health Several Years. \\ Special Dispatch to The Star. LEESBURG, Va., September 17. Dr. Eppa Hunton Heaton, 61, died at his home, in Leesburg, yesterday. He had been in ill health for a number of years. The cause of his death was heart disease. Dr. Heaton was formerly one of Loudoun County's most prominent physicians. In recent years he had been connected with the Loudoun Hospital, doing X-ray work. He is survived by his widow, who was a Miss Dade of Loudoun County; one daughter, Mrs. Stevens Woodruff of Detroit, and three sons, Nathaniel, Townsend and William Heaton. The funeral wil be held from his residence at 10 o'clock tomorrow morning, with burial in Short Hill Cemetery. 4455 | Dr. Gibson is a native of Canada, and a product of one of the best medical schools of that nation. He was born in Perth. Lanark county, Ontario, February 3, 1866, a son of John and Mary (Scott) Gibson. The partenal grandfather was John Gibson, who married Agnes Murray. On both sides the family is of Scotch ancestry. The grandfather was a merchant in Scotland, in the town of Dumfries, and after transferring his home to Canada followed farming. Both he and his wife attained a good old age before their death, and in their family were the following named children: William, James, Andrew. John, Mary, Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Maggie. Andrew Gibson, of this family, after graduating from Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, practiced medicine successfully for several years in Clinton, Ontario. He then took a post graduate course in London, and Edinburgh and then settled in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he enjoyed for about fifteen years a very lucrative and extensive practice. His death was caused by typhoid fever. William and Annie (Harkness) Scott, the maternal grandparents of Dr. Gibson, had the following children: Edward, Matthew, James, John, Thomas, Mary, Mina, Maggie and Annie. Armour, Noted Montreal Surgeon, Passes Montreal Dr John Campbell armour, 62, staff surgeon at the Royal Victoria Hospital and for a time assistant professor of surgery at McGill University, died Thursday. He was a fellow of the Royal College of Sureons and a member of the Canadian Medical Association, the Association of Surgeons of Quebec Province and the Montreal Chirurgical Society. Born in Perth, Ont., he graduated from McGill and later did post-graduate work at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He also lectured in anatomy at the University of Manitoba before taking up practice here. Beloved husband of Evelyn (Tullis) for 55 years. Loving father of Janice (Nelson Edwards), Joanne (Jeff Clark) and Wendy (Tim Turner). Cherished "Gramps" of Julie & Scott Clark, and Simon & Ben Turner. Dear brother of Ethel (& late Jim Butterill) and nephews Bob and Bruce Butterill. Bob was a veterinarian, a graduate of the University of Guelph in 1948, who practiced in the Kingston area prior to joining Agriculture Canada, Health of Animals Branch. In retirement he served for many years as Treasurer for the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association and as a volunteer with Ottawa West Community Support. The family thanks the entire staff of St. Patrick's Home for their exceptional care and compassion over the past year. A memorial service and reception will be held at Kingsway United Church on Tuesday, April 12th, 2 p.m., 630 Island Park Drive. Visitation will be held on Sunday April 10th, 2-4 p.m. at Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street. 4460 | Dr. Willard Chamberlain Selleck, 84, former pastor of the Church of the Reconciliation, [Universalist] died Friday, July 4, 1941 in his home, 3460 Orange, Riverside, Calif. Dr. Selleck was born in Ogdensburg and was a graduate of the St. Lawrence University School of Theology. He was pastor of the local church from Nov. 1, 1915 to Nov. 30, 1919, during which period Mrs. Henry F. Mansfield, 11 Clinton, was the organist for the church. Dr. Selleck had served as pastor of All Souls Church [Universalist], Riverside, since Dec. 7, 1919, and since Oct. 1, [1938?] as pastor emeritus. During Dr. Selleck's long residence in Riverside, he had taken a keen interest and an active part in the city. He was a director of the Community Chest for six years and served as head of the Council of Social Agencies for seven years. His survivors include his wife, Mr. Florence H. 4477 | Duella "Del" Miller Services for Duella "Del" Miller, 79, of Granite Falls, will be held Friday, August 28, at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Granite Falls with burial in the St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery, Posen Township, Yellow Medicine County. Visitation will be held from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the Sunset Funeral Home in Echo and continue Friday one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the funeral home in Echo. Mrs. Miller died Tuesday, August 25, 1998, at the Granite Falls Hospital. Duella Henrietta Miller was born August 10, 1919, in Sparta township, Chippewa County, Minnesota, to Halvor and Constance (Fagerland) Thomasson. She was baptized in the Black Oak Lake on September 28, 1919, and confirmed there on November 26, 1933. She grew up on a family farm attending schools in Wegdahl and Montevideo. On August 11, 1940, she was united in marriage to Wilfred Miller by Rev. O.H. Markgraf at her parent's farm. They lived in Granite Falls until 1944 when they moved to a farm by Wood Lake where they farmed until 1979 when they moved into the Henry Hill Apartments in Granite Falls. Wilfred died in November of 1979 and Del worked as assistant manager at the apartments for the next 10 years. Del continued to live in Granite Falls until her health began to fail and she required more care. She then lived with her daughter, Kathy, son-in-law Lanny, and family. Del attended church at St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Posen Township where she was active in Ladies Aid. She became a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church when she moved to Granite Falls. Del enjoyed crocheting and being with her family and friends. Survivors include a son and three daughters, Donald Miller and wife Phyllis of Vesta; Diane Boelter and husband Roger of Apple Valley; Kathy Boelter and husband Lanny of Clarkfield; and Donna Hagen and husband Michael of Burnsville; 11 grandchildren, Connie House; Kent Miller; Michele Traina; Tony Boelter, Ricky Boelter; Troy Boelter; Korey Boelter; Emily Boelter; Christina Hagen; Justin Hagen; and Briana Hagen; five great-grandchildren, Thomas, Kim and Kayla House; Chelsea and Tyler Traina; two sisters, Lindy Gatchell and husband Milt of Granite Falls; and Del's twin sister Doris Hempel and husband Vernon of Granite Falls; and two sisters-in-law, Margaret Thomasson and Violet Thomasson, both of Marshall.
